Burning an Artemis Candle safely in your home is incredibly important. After all, burning an open flame indoors should be taken extremely seriously at all times, even if it’s within a candle glass.

We take candle safety extremely seriously here at Artemis Candle Company, and believe that these handy candle safety tips will help you stay safe while enjoying our scented candles in your home or office.

Soy Wax Candles Do’s
- Trim your candle wick to approximately 5mm before you light your candle each time. This helps prevent the candle from burning away too fast, and getting too warm!
- Always protect the surface where you place your Artemis candle as the glass will get hot as it burns.
- Always allow your candle to solidify and cool before re-lighting.
- Place the candle lid back on the candle when it’s not in use to protect and preserve your candle.
- Use a candle snuffer or place your candle lid on top of the candle to extinguish your flame. This is safer than blowing them, as this can send sparks and hot wax flying. It also helps prevent ‘wick tunneling’.
- If you’re burning multiple Artemis candles at once, keep your candles apart. Leave at least four inches (10cm) between two burning candles. This helps prevent them from becoming too warm.
- Keep out of direct sunlight as this will help your candle last longer.
- Always make sure your candle is out of reach of children and pets.
Soy Wax Candles Dont’s
- Never place your candle near or under fabrics or furniture.
- To prevent damage to your candle container, never burn the candle right down to the bottom, always aim to leave around 5mm of wax in the bottom.
- Never move your candle whilst lit, or when the wax is liquid as the glass may be very hot.
- Do not burn your Artemis candle for more than four hours, this will not only help it last longer but help prevent it overheating.
