How To Remove Wax From Inside A Candle Jar – Detailed Steps

If you’ve found yourself with a beautiful jar after using a candle, you may be wanting to keep the jar and reuse of recycle it into something new – such as a coin holder, pen holder, or even a home made candle! However, removing the wax can be a challenge. Fortunately, there is a way to remove the wax and repurpose the jar as a vase or storage for small items. All you need is a kitchen and some patience. No special equipment or a lot of time is required. Keep reading to learn how to effectively remove the wax from a candle jar.

Step 1: Place The Candle Into A Freezer

To begin the process of removing wax from a candle jar, you can start by placing the jar in the freezer for a few hours. This will help to make the wax easier to remove because the cold temperature will cause it to contract and shrink. This will give you a better chance of being able to remove the wax without any issues. So, the first step in this process is to put the jar in the freezer for a few hours to allow the wax to contract and shrink.

Step 2: Use A Knife or Spoon To Scrape The Wax Away

After the wax has hardened in the jar, the next step is to remove as much of it as possible. One way to do this is to use a spoon or butter knife to gently scrape out the wax. If the wax is particularly stubborn and difficult to remove, you can try using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften it before scraping. This will make it easier to remove the wax and get it out of the jar. So, once the wax has softened a little bit, you can use a spoon or butter knife to scrape out as much as possible, or use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the wax slightly before scraping if needed.

What If The Wax Stain Remains On The Candle Jar?

If you find that there is still wax stuck to the sides of the jar after you’ve removed as much as you can with a spoon or butter knife, you can use a mixture of white vinegar and water to loosen the remaining wax. This can be done by mixing equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle and spritzing it onto the wax. Allow the mixture to sit for a few minutes to soften the wax, then use a sponge or cloth to scrub it away. This should help to remove any remaining wax that may still be clinging to the sides of the jar.

After disposing of the vinegar and water mix we recommend:

  1. Blot The Residue With A Clean Warm Cloth To Absorb The Wax
  2. Continue Blotting/Rubbing Until The Cloth Comes Away Clean
  3. Wash The Remaining Candle Jar With Clean Soapy Warm Water
  4. Allow To Air-Dry

How To Remove Left Over Wax Residue Inside The Candle Jar

If the jar is still dirty and has wax or grime remaining on it after you’ve removed as much wax as possible using the steps above, you can wash it with warm soapy water to finish cleaning it. Use a sponge or scrub brush to scrub away any remaining dirt or wax, and then rinse the jar thoroughly with warm water. Allow the jar to air dry once it has been cleaned to ensure that it is completely dry before using it again.

By following these steps, you should be able to successfully remove any leftover candle wax from your candle jar.
